Weekends Past

The last few weekends have been fun and crazy! Let’s backtrack…

A few Saturdays ago, we attended a Christmas cookie party. We made Cookie Dough Truffles and they were SO good! You can find the recipe here. It was the first time we’d left Blaire to go out together since our first date/engagement anniversary back on September 10. It was only for a few hours… and we definitely had fun!

So, last Saturday we kicked off our weekend with some Christmas shopping and a trip to our Farmer’s Market. They had a huge Holiday Open House with more than 35 small, local businesses. We had fun looking through all of the unique items. I even scored an amazing deal on headbands for Blaire. They were just the actual headbands, without any bows attached, and they were only $1! I’ll be posting pictures soon. ;) You can purchase from her on Instagram @thegreenlilac. And you can find her on Facebook, too. I also dressed Blaire up in her Santa outfit to see how it looked and to take a few pictures. We installed Blaire’s new carseat, and as you can see from the photo below, she loves it!

That’s how Blaire feels about grocery shopping during nap time.

My best friends came to town and dropped off my 5-year-old Goddaughter with us so they could do some Christmas shopping. Blaire absolutely LOVES her! Her name is Brylee and she is the sweetest little girl. She sang and made silly sounds in the car to entertain Blaire, and Blaire didn’t stop laughing during the entire drive home. They played together for awhile, and then we decided to bake some sugar cookies to decorate! We used this recipe and they are AMAZING! Brylee and I ran to the store to get the ingredients we needed and some fun stuff to decorate our cookies with. She did so good helping Jason measure out the ingredients. And she even rolled and cut out some all by herself!

We’re clearly not yet pros when it comes to cookie decorating! ;) But it was so much fun!

On Sunday, we did more Christmas shopping and ran some errands. We ended the day with our neighborhood’s annual Christmas Luminary and Light Walk. We got to drink hot chocolate and walk through the neighborhood looking at all of the beautiful Christmas lights. It was in the 50s (which is rare here in Iowa mid-December), so it was the perfect night to be out walking around. We were sure to keep Blaire at a safe distance from Santa, but the minute he acknowledged her, she started crying. Poor girl!

It was hard to take photos that did the lights justice, but I tried anyways. Well, that’s an update on our crazy/busy/fun weekends. How about you? What has been keeping you busy during the holidays? xo

Yay! for New Headbands.

From the moment I found out I was pregnant, I have spent hours stalking Etsy for the perfect baby headbands. And one of my favorite new shops, Aubrey Charlotte Co., has some of the cutest little headbands I’ve ever seen! As you can tell from the majority of my pictures, Blaire is usually always rocking some type of GIANT bow/headband. So this delicate glittery, gold bow is a nice change of pace. I think such a small, sparkly bow really brings out those beautiful blue eyes of hers!

My Birthday/Christmas Wish List

As promised… here’s my Birthday/Christmas Wish List! My birthday is December 24, so every December I just get to make one, big list for my friends and family. Here are my top picks for this year. :)

Mama's Christmas Wish List

Herringbone Vest  // Eye Shadow // TOMS // Flannel Sheets // Chevron Frame

UOI Herringbone Vest: This vest has been #1 on my must-have list for winter fashion. I love that it’s so versatile. You can throw it over any top and it will look cute.

Eye Shadow: I saw a Pinterest makeup tutorial using this palette, and I’m obsessed. I tried using random shadows I have and, sadly, it’s just not the same.

Snow Leopard TOMS: I pinned these TOMS a year ago, and I just realized they’re on sale for under $35 right now. If I don’t get these bad boys, then I just might have to use my Christmas money to buy them! ;)

Flannel Sheets: Every, single night I get in to my freezing, cold bed and I wonder why I don’t have flannel sheets. Therefore, these cute, plaid sheets are at the top of my list!

Threshold Chevron Frame: I FREAKING LOVE PICTURE FRAMES! I’m a girl, okay. I can’t help it!

I am in desperate need of a new perfume! But I just haven’t made it out to test out any.  Kate Spade Twirl was my go to for the last year and a half, and I just ran out. My best friend just got this one from American Eagle and it smells amazing! …but I figured I’d try to be my own person and venture out to find my own new scent instead of just stealing hers! You’re welcome, Jamie. ;) Any suggestions? WELL, I’m sure I’ve missing something that I’ve just been dying to buy, but have held off on. What’s on your holiday list? xo

Blaire’s First Thanksgiving + Our Weekend

I can’t believe Thanksgiving has been here and gone, and now it’s December! We had a busy Thanksgiving Day with both of our families. Since my family lives an hour away, we went to my aunt’s house to have lunch with everyone (Except for my parents who are currently in Aruba. Must be nice!) We got to meet my cousin’s three-week-old daughter for the first time. She is so tiny and perfect! I can’t believe Blaire was that tiny only months ago. It really doesn’t seem possible! Blaire also got to enjoy ice cream for the first time. Saying she loved it was an understatement. We then spent the evening with Jason’s family. I think it was perfect to let Blaire end the night there because it was just the 6 of us. It let her unwind and play off the sugar from that ice cream. (As you can see in the second photo, someone started standing on her own like a big girl!)

I typically boycott Black Friday because I think retailers have just completely taken it overboard. But, I did have to make a stop by Walgreens this year. The entire store was 25% off, so I stocked up on Formula! ;) #momproblems. Jason’s brother stayed with us Friday night before returning home Saturday morning. Blaire had a lot of fun being able to spend some QT with her uncle. She’s was excited to have someone else to play with other than just mom and dad! On Saturday we ran errands and got some Christmas gifts checked off of our list. We also started putting together Blaire’s outfit for her picture with Santa! I’m sooo excited to see her in it. All that’s left is to find the perfect headband.

We ended our weekend with church on Sunday (where Blaire and I were twinning in our leopard print scarves), followed by naps and some Christmas decorating! Christmas Tree number one is up, and Blaire is pretty excited about it.

Next weekend we have a Christmas Party and Brunch with Santa at our country club! I’m so excited! What fun holiday things do you have on your calendar? xo

Baby, it’s cold outside.

Well, I asked for it… I wanted the weather to be cooler so I could layer up and curl up in front of the fire place in my cozy PJs. It has been around 50º during the day… with next week calling for 30s and the possibility of snow. All of this cooler weather means layers of cozy fabrics! Below are some of my favorites for mama and baby girl right now.

Women's Winter FashionScarf /// Snowflake Leggings ///  Sweater /// Knit Headband /// Cozy Socks /// Fur Vest /// Sleep Pants

Winter Wonderland Infinity Scarf: This scarf combines three of my all-time favorite things: The color gray, sequins, and the fact that it’s a scarf. Bonus… it’s only $16.

Snow Day Leggings: The leggings are cute AND they’re fleece lined. You can’t get any better than that… except for the fact that they’re on sale for $7.

AEO Jegging Sweater: Thanks to Pinterest I decided that a red sweater is the most amazing piece to layer under vests. Don’t believe me? See this pin and this one. Point made.

AEO Soft Shimmer Knit Headband: You don’t have to tell me that beanies are all the rage right now. But, even when I had long hair, I just couldn’t pull them off. I like to stick with a headband. It looks cute with your hair up or down. And I love anything that shimmers, so this one is a winner!

Old Navy Cozy Socks: I am obsessed with socks. I am a firm believer that you can never have too many socks, and that plain socks are just too darn boring. I will basically buy anything that’s leopard print so these little guys are perfect.

Faux Fur Vest: I searched EVERYWHERE for an affordable faux fur vest. This one was only $30 at Target, plus they had a coupon on Cartwheel (if you don’t have their app, you need to get it. NOW!) so it was only $22. SCORE.

Leopard Sleep Pant: Who says you can’t be cute when you’re just lounging around at home? Since I work from home three days each week, I typically don’t change out of my PJs those days. Wearing cute PJs makes me feel a (little) less like a bum. ;)

The only thing I love more than shopping for my own clothes, is shopping for tiny clothes. Dressing a little girl is even more fun that I ever could have imagined. Our bank account can vouch for me on that. These little things better all make their way into Blaire’s wardrobe.

Cozy Winter Fashion for Baby and Toddler Girls

Plaid Headband /// Leopard Sweater /// Fur Vest /// Moccs /// Merry & Bright PJs /// Plaid Tunic

Plaid Turban Headband: If you tell me this isn’t the cutest little headband you’ve ever seen… then you’re a liar. I. am. obsessed.

Jumping Beans Leopard Heart Fleece Sweatshirt: As previously stated above, I’m obsessed with leopard print which means Blaire is obsessed with leopard print. This little sweatshirt is so soft, and it’s only $7.50. :)

Infant Girls Faux Fur Vest: Clearly I love a good fur vest. Target for the win again. This little guy is only $15 and could be the cutest furry thing I’ve ever seen.

Freshly Picked Limited Edition Amour Moccs: You know I love a good mocc! These limited edition moccs are SO Cute. And they’re neutral enough to match everything in your LO’s closet.

Carter’s Merry & Bright PJ Set: Although I am a lover of footie pajamas, these are SO cute. Looking at these PJs makes me want to hang up our stockings and decorate for Christmas right. now.

Carter’s Buffalo Plaid Tunic: Everyone needs some buffalo plaid in their life. Everyone also needs a good tunic in their wardrobe. Enter, this adorable little buffalo plaid tunic. Bonus: It’s super soft.

Blaire: 8 Months

Okay, I feel like I’m going to say this every, single month… but WHAT? How is Blaire 8-months-old already?  That means there’s only 4 more months until we’re celebrating her 1st Birthday. I can’t take it.

IMG_2328Top /// Jeans – Gap (Last Year, Similar Here) /// Headband is Homemade

She just wants to stand allllll the time. Whether it’s in her bouncer or jumper, or walking with our help, or holding onto the side of the couch and using it to taking steps on her own… she just loves it! The smiles and giggles when she’s standing and taking steps are my favorite! She is so mobile now. She crawled (forward, with her belly off the ground) for the first time this weekend! She mostly just pulls herself forward when there’s something she wants to get. She can crawl backwards and sideways and roll all over the place. She can even go from crawling back to sitting on her own. She was so proud of herself the first few times she did it. Getting Blaire to sit still is easier said, than done. She’s just so curious about everything! Everything she hears. Everything she sees. Everything.

Standing CollagePJs (Pink/Blue) /// Vest Outfit /// Headband is Homemade /// PJs (Purple/White)

Blaire has started babbling more and more and it still sounds like she says “da da”, “dad” and “hey”. We love it! It’s so funny when she makes noises that sound like words. It just cracks us up! She still loves being outside and loves animals. The park we go to for walks has a large pond with lots of ducks, and their quacks always make her laugh. Watching her grow and develop her little personality is a greater joy than I ever could have imagined. I have always tried to spend a lot of time with my goddaughter (who is now 5!) as she has grown up. Through this, I’ve known first-hand that every new stage becomes your favorite. You may miss your tiny baby, but watching them learn is so exciting and rewarding… even more so when it’s your own baby!

I’ll be posting our 8 Month Must-Haves soon! I’d love to know what age has been your favorite with your little one. xo

More Fall Style – Baby Edition

Well fall is in full effect here in Iowa. It’s been in the 50s each day and I couldn’t be more excited. My favorite part? As I’ve previously stated, it’s the clothes! I’m loving anything glittery, metallic, striped or just plain cozy… for myself and my mini. All of these items are adorable and fit the bill. The majority of these items are from Carters, which just happens to have 40% off of everything online right now. (Nothing states when the sale ends.) If you’re on their email list, then you’ve already received the coupon posted below, but if not, then here you go. You can either print it, or just present it in store. :)

Something else I’m super excited about? I just ordered Blaire a Zipadee-zip! (Find their website here and Facebook page here.) We saw them on Shark Tank a few weeks ago and I’ve been dying to get my hands on one. They just restocked them today and I placed an order immediately. If you’re not familiar, Zipadee-zips are sleep sacks that have parents raving about how miraculous they are. I haven’t seen a bad review yet. Most parents boast that it immediately made their child sleep through the night. I. SERIOUSLY. CAN’T. WAIT. TO GET OURS!

What are your favorite clothing pieces for your tiny person? Please let me know in the comments below. I’m always on the hunt for cute, new things. xo

Fall Favorites!

We’re in fall mode here at our house! And let me just be honest, my favorite part of fall is the clothing. (If you know me, then you know that’s no surprise.) I just love layers! Scarves, cardigans, boots… I can’t get enough. I’d like to share with you some of my favorite pieces from fall, not only for myself, but for baby girl, too. We’ve been feeling extra festive because we order Blaire’s adorable Halloween costume! I can’t wait to try it on her.

First up, baby clothes! I am loving the little Carter’s vest outfits. They are seriously adorable. My two favorites are the navy polka dot and the white with little bear ears on the hood. The best part? They’re both on sale 50% off right now (carters.com) and you save an extra 25% with code FRIEND25. (25% off ends on 9/22/14) I’m also loving these glow-in-the-dark PJs from Carter’s! They’re also on sale and are also eligible for the 25% off. Next up, the little grey and white top from Gymboree! Not only is it adorable, it’s currently 40% off. Finally, I am just dying for some baby moccasins. I’m loving these Platinum moccs from Freshly Picked.Baby Girl Fall Fashion

White Vest Outfit /// Blue Vest Outfit /// Moccs /// White/Grey Top /// Halloween PJs

Next up, Mama’s fashion! I buy the majority of my clothing from Target (because I’m there three times a week anyways) and from one of my favorite local stores. You can find them online at uoionline.com (on Instagram here, and on Facebook here). If you love something of theirs, you should buy it right away because their items tend to sell out quickly.

First up, these taupe boots are everything! I have them in Black and Tan from last year, and am so excited to get this new color for this year. A cozy infinity scarf and a striped top are both essential pieces for layering! This blush sweater from Target is one of my favorite purchases this fall. Please trust me when I say this photo does it no justice. Distressed jeans are a must have! I love how these lightly distressed jeans look with riding boots.
