Turning One

In just a few days, Blaire will be 11 months old, which means it’s time to plan her first birthday party! I’ve been working on some adorable invites and have putting together a fun theme. I love all things girly (think pink and glitter). So after lots of Pinteresting I found the perfect theme! (I’m not really sure how anything was ever planned before Pinterest.) We/I decided to go with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I LOVE gold and pink/coral, so I just fell in love with all of the photos below. I’m so excited to start crafting. We decided on a small, family birthday party. I know it’s hard to keep things small for a first birthday, but we’re going to try!

What do you think? What theme did you have for your little ones first birthday?

Weekend Fun

Any weekend that doesn’t involve excessive traveling is a win for me! I love being able to sleep in (as late as Blaire will let me… which is typically 8am) and then take my time getting the house cleaned and the laundry done. But… No weekend is complete without a little shopping!

Saturday was a big day at Babies R Us! It was time for a new carseat since Blaire is starting to outgrow her current one. We bought two, one for each car. We went with the Graco 4Ever Carseat and the Evenflo Tribute DLX Carseat. It’ll be so nice to not have to deal with moving around her carseat! We only have one base for her infant seat, so we have to move the base any time we want to swap vehicles… not fun! Carter’s Layette was all BOGO free (including cute fleece pjs). It was the perfect time to purchase gifts for my cousin and two friends who are expecting babies here in the next few weeks. The best part? With a purchase of $200 (or more) you received this Motorola video monitor for free ($99 value). We’ve been trying to make the transition from cosleeping to crib sleeping, so I thought a video monitor would help ease my mind a little bit. Another thing to help with the transition? Something to keep Blaire’s little feet from getting stuck in the crib slats. I really wanted this cute chevron bumper to go with her nursery’s theme… but they were all sold out. So, I settled for this mesh crib liner. Once I gpicmot it home I realized I wasn’t a fan of how it looked from outside the crib. It’s going back to the store, and I’ll be heading over to their store on the Illinois side of the river in search of the chevron bumper!

Up next, Blaire watched from her crib as I hung up some cute decor I bought from Hobby Lobby (last weekend). I’m seriously loving the gold decor Hobby Lobby and Target have out this fall. I’m kicking myself for not adding  gold to her nursery sooner! I’m thinking it still needs some sort of gold picture frame to finish off this wall collage. What do you think?

Sunday was a successful day at Bath & Body Works! If you haven’t smelled their delicious fall scents, then you’re missing out! I had a coupon for a free mini candle (thanks, Amanda!) These coupons come in the mail regularly, typically along with a 20% off coupon, which I also used. If you’re not signed up for their mailers, you seriously should consider it. (Sign up for mailers by giving your phone number at checkout. Sign up for their emails here.) My favorite fall scent is the Pumpkin Pecan Waffles. I had to get the 3-wick candle, the mini candle, the wallflowers, and yes, even the scent for my car. Tied for second is Pumpkin Caramel Latte and Caramel Pumpkin Swirl.

Apologies for the blurry photo. My phone clearly hates me these days. I can’t wait to get the new iPhone. What did you do this weekend? Did you catch any great deals? I’d love to hear about them! xo

First Post!

I’m so excited to begin my blog! I am a first-time mom who’s also a full-time working girl. I am obsessed with taking photos (mostly of my adorable 6-month-old), online shopping and reality TV! I’m from Illinois, attended college in Arizona (Wildcat for Life!) and currently reside in Iowa with my husband, Jason and our daughter, Blaire. Blaire was born in February and is 6 1/2 months old. My, how time flies!

Having your first baby can be quite overwhelming! Let’s be honest. You’ve never done any of this before, so you don’t even know what you need and what you don’t. I spent hours combing through the internet, reading product reviews and baby blogs. Six months in, I already have so many insights as to what has worked for me and what hasn’t.

I’m one of those girls who has at least 20 half-used bottles of hair products in her bathroom at one time. I have drawers of nail polish and cabinets of cosmetics. I have multiple closets of things I haven’t worn in years (although due to my recent obsession with Poshmark, they’re finally under control), yet I’m always looking to buy more. I’m basically a hoarder.

I’ve been wanting to start up this blog for awhile, but I’ve just felt so busy. I’ve realized I’m never going to be less busy than I am now. I have my degree in Journalism and wrote a blog in college (soooo different from this one! Haha). I believe that you can balance being a mom and still have it all. I’m here to document how I do it. But don’t get me wrong, this blog is for myself. I can’t wait to look back, watch Blaire grow and relive all of the fun we had together!
